My name is W. Jonas Reger and I am a Graduate Student studying Analytical Statistics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). I taught Statistics as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant in the Department of Statistics from Spring 2019 to Spring 2021. I also had the pleasure of teaching Data Science with the Discovery Partner Institute (DPI) and the University of Illinois at Chicago’s (UIC) CHANCE program to help support and develop promising and diverse tech talent in Illinois. Starting in the Fall 2021, I will be transitioning into a new role as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Department of Statistics to continue teaching Data Science at Illinois.

I am a self-taught programmer starting at the age of 10 when I did robotics through my school. When I was 17, I interned for the American Cancer Society and led a research project with Dr. Kris Killian in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at UIUC. After that I interned with Andy Loftus, developing applications in Python, at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications. After high school, I completed my A.S. Degree in Computer Science at Parkland College. Following that, I completed my B.S. Degree in Statistics at UIUC. I am now working on my M.S. Degree in Analytical Statistics at UIUC. My research interests include Machine Learning, Data & AI Ethics, Data Science Education, and Data Art.
